When I think of the night that Christ was born, I seriously get chills. The savior of this world, the Prince of Peace, was born in a stable. He was laid in a manger. A place where animals stay. A place that was messy and dirty. God could have planned for him to be born in the nicest of Inns, a kings palace, but he chose a messy stable. From day one Jesus came for the messy, the imperfect, the sinners. He didn’t come to condemn this world, but to save it. We are human, and because we are human we fail everyday. Our thoughts and wants sometimes get the best of us. Our worldly desires tend to over power us at times. But God still loves us. He still fights for us. He sent his one and only son for you and me!! What an amazing love that is!!!
This year I got my first nativity set. I love explaining to my daughter the story of the birth of Jesus. Watching her rock the baby Jesus has been so precious to see. She’s three so of course she believes in Santa Clause. But she knows that the reason we celebrate Christmas is because it’s Jesus’ birthday. She knows we give gifts because God gave us the ultimate gift the night Christ was born. And tonight we’re making cookies for Santa and a birthday cake for Jesus. I want her to grow up knowing that even though life may get messy at times that she’ll be okay because she has God by her side. No matter what life throws at her, she’ll be okay as long as she has Christ Jesus in her heart. Because Jesus came into this world in a messy place for the messiest of people.
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas with friends and family!!!
