Let Your Light Shine

I am not a fan of the month of January.  My husband can’t comprehend because it’s my birthday month so he thinks I should love and celebrate it the entire 31 days.  No way.  It’s cold, dreary, and LONG!  I’m the kind of person that NEEDS the sunlight.  I get down and depressed when we have days upon days of cloudiness.  I am not a fan of winter.  I don’t mind the cold as much but again, I need that vitamin D to stay energized, focused, and happy.  The sun is so important for my mood and my mood affects other people’s mood around me.  So for the sake of my co-workers and husband PLEASE, SUN COME OUT COME OUT WHEREVER YOU ARE!!  As I was thinking about this today and how ready I am for Spring to be here, I thought about how Jesus is the light of the world.

Just like we all need the sunlight we also need the light of Jesus in our lives.  To feel, happy, motivated, loved and energized!  And just how my dreary mood affects others, the light shining through me, from him, affects others as well.  So I asked myself.  Am I always letting his light shine through me?  Am I shining light on someones darkness today?  I want to.  I want to help others, energize them, motivate them and let them know how loved they are by our amazing creator.  The creator of the sun we cherish so much!!  We NEED him in our lives just like I NEED the sunlight.  And I want others to be affected in a positive way by the way he affects me.  So I am going to try my hardest to fight past the clouds, the dreariness, and let this little light of mine, SHINE!

A lot of us suffer from winter depression, some call it SAD. Sunlight Affect Disorder…or close to this. This is more common like in Northern Minnesota. When we moved down to AR in 75, we had huge snows every weekend. So much so it would cover up the doors and windows on a side of a home. We had a long turkey barn and we got snows from North Dakota with 50 mph winds and it drifted snow up over the turkey barn. Drifted so hard our horses could walk over the barn and the fences. Cattle were dying in the fields, freezing to death, we saw flatbed semi’s loaded with dead cattle. People died after being asphyxiated by snow compacting sewer vents on their roofs. And there were untold numbers of families seeking psychological treatment for depression, now called SAD.
So, dear one, what you are experiencing is very, very real and is very serious. But, there is a fairly simple solutions that will help you. You can purchase a lamp with a certain bulb that mimics the sun,(which is lacking), and helps with this very real disorder, SAD. I wish I could remember where I read it, but all that a person has to do is sit with the lamp on them for a few minutes in the morning, for instance, to get the sunlight that is needed to prevent depression. Perhaps have it shine on you while you put your makeup on in the morning.
    So, consider trying that lamp.
Honey, your light shines, all the more since you have drawn closer to our Father. You have such a sweet glow to you, in fact, not just you, your darling husband has it, too, as well as your little. God is so good, love what he has done in your lives….all of our lives!
    You all are so loved….

I am correcting myself. SAD stands for Seasonal Affective Disorder. Check out Amazon or the like for a lamp to help with this.

I hear ya Casey! I’m a sunshine sort of gal too! Winter is a battle. I’m battling right along with ya. 🙂 God is good though. I’ve been having the roughest time recently, but He speaks into that darkness reminding me that this is only temporary. So we push on…and as you put it, we do our best to be that Son-shine. ❤ Prayers go up…love comes down. ❤

Go for it! I’m all for getting more light. Sunshine is best, but you have to do what you have to do in the meantime. I have to take vitamin D as well, otherwise I will end up deficient. When I di have my vitamin D tested I was deficient. Brought it back up, and now I take my vitamin D daily. If your vitamin D is off it can throw your calcium off too, so it’s an important one! Take care Casey! ❤

I checked out lamps, too. I saw the light bulbs they have which are much, much cheaper. Will try them before I invest in the lamps.
